Ann Gilligan, LICSW
School-Based Therapist
Ann is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in the state of Minnesota, has been working in the mental health field since 1990, and has been at Watercourse Counseling Center since 2005. She received her Bachelor’s degree in social work at St. Benedict and her Master's in Counseling Psychology through the United States International University in Mexico City.
Ann believes that people often seek therapy because they believe they can find a way to make sense of what’s going on with them – past and present. Ann approaches a therapeutic relationship with the belief that sharing with another person is a healing process and she and she aims to support that process through her presence, patience, and consistency. She is trained in Theraplay, an attachment-based intervention, and is gifted in seeing and hearing children and helping them discover more about themselves and how they interact with their world. Ann seeks to help families understand and interact with their children in ways that promote confidence and inspire growth. Ann is also experienced in group work, including Sunshine Circles, and leads groups at Anderson and other locations upon request.
In her free time, Ann enjoys walking, traveling, reading, cooking, exploring new restaurants, volunteering in her community, mentoring children and families, traveling, reading, and spending time outdoors.
