Shirah Jacobs

Community Engagement Specialist, AmeriCorps VISTA

Shirah is excited to join the Watercourse team for a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA. This will be Shirah’s second year of service in Minnesota, but the ninth year living in Minneapolis since moving here for college. Striving to be a compassionate contributor to the social safety net, Shirah’s philosophy of community care involves everyone playing a vital role in supporting each other. As a community engagement specialist, Shirah will work to engage stakeholders in developing low-barrier, highly accessible mental health services by and for neighborhoods of Minneapolis federally designated as Health Professional Shortage Areas.

Shirah has a Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering, a foster dog named Poppi, and the conviction that true empowerment comes from connection and the way we uplift each other.
