Ashley Nelson, LMFT
Clinic-based Therapist
Navigating transitionary periods, relationships, identity, and feelings of loneliness, guilt, or shame can be overwhelmingly difficult to manage, not including additional stressors surrounding large family dynamics and conflicts. I am here to support the BIPOC community, in foster and adoptive families, particularly transracial adoptions, and people looking for support in foster and adoption trauma, identity, self-worth, and feelings of fear of failure. If you are struggling to navigate this world and need someone to talk to but don’t know how to, please reach out. I am here to offer support to teens, young adults, and adults looking to feel validated and heard as we work together to help you navigate this world for a better self forward.
I bring a culturally affirming and intersectional lens to every session, using structural, experiential, and narrative modalities. As a systems thinker, I start my sessions with a transgenerational lens so that I can start looking at the interconnectedness of the whole picture and the individual, which can tell us a lot about different patterns and all of the layers underneath any deep issues you are looking to entangle. I can offer a voice and guide you through anxiety, depression, relationships, and trauma. As a transracial adoptee from South Korea who has worked in various settings working with populations of adoptees and foster families and children since 2011, I know personally the realities and challenges possible.
It takes courage to reach out and may feel scary, but I promise that you have the answers within yourself and my role is to help you unveil it–layer by layer–so that you can bring your best self forward. I believe therapy is the best form of exploring your strengths and sharing your own stories of healing and growth. Together, we can explore ways to hold space for the life challenges that come our way. Let’s connect–reach me by email or phone.
